The program will provide an overview of the three most common vehicles businesses use to make cash donations: from a business budget line, through a corporate foundation, or through the giving vehicle, donor-advised fund (DAF).
Topics will include:
- Advantages and Disadvantages of these giving tools
- The flexibility and limitations businesses will face using these structures
- How to choose the right giving structure for your organization

Dr. Allen-Davis leads the organization’s government relations and regulatory affairs, community relations and community benefit investment, clinical research activities, stakeholder engagement, communications, and advertising and marketing functions.

· Mark Berzins, Founder & Lead Dog at Little Pub Company; Board Member, B:CIVIC
Mark Berzins is the founder and Lead Dog of the Little Pub Company, which operates 24 neighborhood bars and restaurants in the Denver-metro area. He also manages investments in real estate, brewing, and other emerging industries. His heart likes to write checks neither his bank or calendar can cash.
· Jerome Davis, Regional Vice President, Colorado at Xcel Energy Company; Board Member, Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation
Davis has executive leadership responsibility for local government affairs in 165 communities located throughout the state. He oversees the managed accounts of the company’s largest business customers, which together comprise more than $1 billion in annual revenue. Under his guidance, Xcel Energy has built a solid and well-earned reputation for community involvement.
The company’s charitable giving foundation, which is supported by shareholder investments, has made substantial investments across focus groups. Davis also has oversight of the company’s United Way Campaign, employee volunteer programs, and corporate sponsorships that support organizations and programs in the communities we serve.
These three will share how and why they use the different tools to achieve their philanthropic and business goals and to increase their impact in the community. In addition to answering questions from the audience.
